Split Second Racing Team
The Competition
F1 In Schools is the only global multi-disciplinary contest, in which teams of 9 to 19 year old students use CAD (Computer - Aided Design) and CAM (Computer - Aided Manufacturing) software to design, analyse, build, test and then race miniature, balsa wood, compressed CO2 powered Formula One™ cars.
Teams have to raise sponsorship and manage their resources in order to fund their research, manufacturing of the car, promotion, travel and accommodation.
This challenge inspires students to use IT to learn about physics, aerodynamics, graphics, design, manufacturing, marketing and media skills, teamwork and leadership, sponsorship and financial strategies. Then, they apply this knowledge in a practical, imaginative, competitive and exciting manner.
